Chris Cornell, frontman for Soundgarden and Audioslave, dies in Detroit after performing a concert with Soundgarden. It was found that he had hanged himself in his Detroit hotel room, at the age of 52. Fans and media outlets took notice of Cornell's choice of date and method and their direct parallels with the suicide of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis exactly 37 years prior; Joy Division's music was popular among the members of Soundgarden.
